About this page

Saturday is the fullest day for the clubs around Milan, and it splits into mornings for children and afternoons for competition. In Via San Faustino the Scacchistica Milanese holds a seven-round rapid from three in the afternoon, at twelve minutes plus three seconds a move, open to all players, with entries taken until the start. Paul Morphy gives Saturday morning to its children’s chess school in Via Sant’Uguzzone.

In Lainate the club teaches two groups of children for free on Saturday morning, the stronger players first and the beginners after, and leaves the boards out for anyone who wants to stay and play. In Cinisello Balsamo the club room opens on Saturday morning outside the summer months, at the same hours as the youth course. Summer timetables differ, so a look at the club’s page before setting off is worthwhile.
